  • Location: Various parks in Seattle area
  • Type of work: Building houses. Actual work depends on what stage the houses on the worksite are in. Work can range from hammering nails to painting to landscaping.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

  • Date: Mid-January (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • Typical hours: Unknown
  • Location: Projects located at scores of sites across Seattle area
  • Type of work: Anything from painting, landscaping, weeding, cleaning, sorting, ...
  • Event reason: "Dr. King believed that 'Everyone can be great because everyone can serve.'" Re-ignite Dr. King’s dream of greatness by serving your community!

  • Type of work: "Unloading non-perishable food donations from the carriers' vehicles to help get them back out on their route."
  • Event reason: "This time of year is especially critical for many food banks, since their stock of holiday donations runs low just as school breakfast and lunch programs close for the summer."
