Updating this wiki

Please follow the standard format, so that looking for information on this wiki is easy. If drastic changes are made, arrange with the current maintainer to make all the changes uniform throughout.

If you don't have an account, email one of the users on the user list (or the current maintainer) asking them to give you a name and password. To prevent spam, getting an account requires knowing a current user (just like gmail). After that, editing a page is very easy.

  • Typical hours: 4 hours starting from 9 AM up to 1 PM
  • Location: Various parks in Seattle area
  • Type of work: Trail work, landscaping, weeding, invasive species removal

Habitat for Humanity

  • Typical hours: 9 AM - 4 PM (can end sooner depending on workload)
  • Location: Various parks in Seattle area
  • Type of work: Building houses. Actual work depends on what stage the houses on the worksite are in. Work can range from hammering nails to painting to landscaping.

Treehouse For Kids

  • Typical hours: Unknown
  • Location: South Seattle
  • Type of work: There are many ways to get involved, but the one-time volunteer efforts involve sorting and tagging stuff at their "Wearhouse".

  • Type of work: Showing people engineering demos, leading students around the exhibits, etc...
  • Event reason: "This event is free and open to students of all ages from grades K-12, prospective high school & college transfer students, teachers, and all others that are interested in learning more about engineering."

Letter Carrier's Food Drive

  • Date: Mid-May
  • Typical hours: 3 hour shifts (12:30 PM - 3:30 PM or 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM)
  • Location: Postal stations across Seattle area
  • Type of work: "Unloading non-perishable food donations from the carriers' vehicles to help get them back out on their route."
  • Event reason: "This time of year is especially critical for many food banks, since their stock of holiday donations runs low just as school breakfast and lunch programs close for the summer."
