MobileASL Bugs/Usability Issues List

  1. 2/16/10 -- Remove yourself from the contact list -- Joy
  2. 2/16/10 -- Make it not possible to call someone that is offline -- Joy

  4. 2/17/10 -- it would be nice to have a window pop up when one of the people on the contact list log onto MobileASL -- Eve
  5. 2/17/10 -- The contact list goes down whenever I try to show the phone to Anna. It is now 12:17 PM and it's down -- Eve Contact list is stable as of 3/10/10
  6. 2/17/10 -- When the contact list is down, is it still possible to be able to call someone with an AT&T 3G card if they have a phone number that you know? -- Eve
  7. 2/20/10 -- Redesign Settings page to make less technical and more clear (or move technical stuff to an advanced tab) -- Joy
  8. 2/20/10 -- myinfo.txt sometimes corrupts, so that your phone number comes up as garbled text. You have to close MobileASL, delete myinfo.txt, and re-open MobileASL. This results in your phone number changing. (only on non-AT&T phones?) -- Joy
  9. 2/20/10 -- When using an AT&T connection, MobileASL doesn't connect to the data network right away. You have to open Internet Explorer and try to go to a webpage before the phone will properly connect. Then, MobileASL will be able to use the AT&T connection. -- Joy fixed by Jaehong 4/6/10
  10. 2/20/10 -- Sometimes, even if both phones are connected to the server, making a call between them won't work until after a few tries. -- Joy
  11. 2/20/10 -- Have a cancel button for Update My Info and for retrieving the contact list? -- Joy
  12. 2/20/10 -- Mess with thread priorities so that Update My Info and retrieving the contact list doesn't slow down MobileASL? Is this still the case in 1.0.3? -- Joy
  13. 2/25/10 -- Make the contact list have an icon to show if a user is busy/in a call -- Joy
  14. 2/25/10 -- "Also, this morning, my phone was randomly vibrating (like, once every 5 - 10 minutes, at least when I was sitting by my computer). But the screen didn't show anyone calling me. Then I tried to click the missed call button, and MobileASL froze. I had to take out the battery and put it back to restart my phone." Note: This was using Joy's unfinished experience sampling code, which might have caused the bugs. -- Joy
  15. 2/25/10 -- Eve tried to call Joy. Joy was away from the phone and did not answer. It told her that Joy was busy, but no one else was online and Joy was not already in a phone call. -- Joy
  16. 2/25/10 -- Clicking the Missed Call button when there is a missed call opens the History window. If there is no missed call, a message box just pops up saying there are no missed calls. But its kind of weird to have a shortcut to the History window that only works some of the time. Maybe after the message box pops up, the history window should open anyway? -- Joy
  17. 2/25/10 -- Putting a comma in your username causes MobileASL to crash when you try to open the contact list. -- Joy
  18. 2/25/10 -- When the phone is in vertical view (with the keyboard in), the both video screens should be upright (the video for viewing yourself is sideways). -- Joy
  19. 2/28/10 -- Sometimes, when you receive a call, the window will say "Receiving call from <phonenumber> ()". There should be a username in between the parentheses. And then, if I get a phone call from the same phone later, the username will appear like it should. -- Joy
  20. 2/28/10 -- Call gets messed up when two people try to call you at the same time (see eve's email on 2/25/10) -- Joy
  21. 3/1/10 -- My phone was on wi-fi. It worked fine at home, then, while it was still on, I went to the CSE atrium. I turned on the screen and MobileASL had frozen up. I could still click on the WM Start Menu. The icon at the top kept looking for a wi-fi connection and never connected to a network. I had to restart the phone, and it connected to the internet like normal. Also, looking at the server logs, it seems that my phone stopped talking to the network at midnight of 2/28/10. -- Joy
  22. 3/11/10 -- User should be able to turn incoming chat message/phone call vibration on or off. In other words, if they set their phone to Silent, MobileASL should not vibrate. -- Joy fixed by Joy on 4/7/10
  23. 3/31/10 -- Change the "Camera Init Error" message to something more understandable. Include instructions for fixing the error ("To fix this, turn off your phone then turn it back on"). -- Joy
  24. 3/31/10 -- If a user does not close the "Call was Disconnected" or similar message box that pops up after a call is ended, the phone will stop sending messages to the server and go offline (see eve's email on 3/31/10). Possible solutions: either make it so the phone continues sending messages while the message box is up, or make the message box time out so that it disappears on its own. -- Joy
  25. 3/31/10 -- Have a (?) icon next the video in MobileASL that will take users to a help page when tapped, so that users can get help if their video is wonky (stripes appear, video is scrambled, etc). -- Joy
  26. 4/7/10 -- Sometimes after you hang up a call, trying to call another person won't work, and trying to receive calls won't work. You have to restart MobileASL to fix this. It's pretty much impossible for a user to detect this problem. -- Joy
